Hey, I’ve been nominated for the sunshine blogger award! It is so wonderful to be a part of this blogging community and to be able to make connections with like-minded bloggers. And nice to be recognized for working hard to put together a collection of posts that is not altogether terrible. 😉
I was nominated by Angela from Life of Angela. If you do not already follow her, I would suggest you check her blog out. It is filled with great posts about, well, just about everything! You can read about her travels, her beautiful wedding, and everyday life. And if I wasn’t already hooked, she recently wrote about her favorite musicals, which makes her even more awesome. 😉 So thank you Angela! I am honored to be thought of by a great blogger such as yourself.

My 11 Questions:
What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep?
These days I am worthless without a decent night’s sleep. We even have a tradition of celebrating New Year’s in a different time zone so we can go to bed on time. But back in college I think I pulled two all-nighters in a row. Being a procrastinator, an all-nighter was not too terribly crazy for me. But TWO all-nighters?? Fueled by massive amounts of coffee and a lot of delirious giggles, I believe my friend and I made it for nearly 48 hours. But it couldn’t last forever–I knew I was ready for a snooze when I was driving and saw bunnies (nonexistent bunnies, I should say) running in front of my car. And off to bed I went!
What is the best thing that has happened to you this week?
This week is my spring break, so I’ve been gifted with 5 glorious days off from work. Hooray! I made grand plans to get a lot of sleep, work on the blog, and maybe even catch up on some TV. Of course I have two young kids, so I fell short on meeting most of these goals. But I did however get to have a wonderful day at Seaworld yesterday. My mom had the day off, so I suckered her into joining the kids and me in a road trip to San Diego for a fun-filled day at the park.
What is one of your favourite words or phrases?
Hmmm, there are so many to choose from. I think one of my most frequent go-to words is, “Really?!?” It comes in handy so often. A car cuts me off: Really?! I stub my toe: Really?! My kid throws a ball “to his brother” and I get beaned in the head: Really?! You get the idea. I realized that I maybe say it too much when my 5-year old started saying it all of the time (to which I mentally exclaim, “Really?!”).
What did you have for lunch yesterday?
I don’t even want to admit this. It is terrible. It is all kinds of wrong. I had a chile verde fry cone. It is theme park food at its worst: a paper cone filled with fries, chile verde, pico de gallo, and crema. This is something I would not normally order, but we were in a code red EAT NOW situation and it was the closest food kiosk.
What weird food combinations do you like?
As of yesterday, I officially like french fries with chile verde! Turns out my fry cone was pretty delicious. A total gut bomb, but delightful all the same. 🙂
What was/is your favourite subject in school?
English. I always enjoyed English language arts, especially writing. Now, as a teacher, it is my favorite subject to teach.
Do you prefer cats or dogs?
100% dogs. They are fun and loyal companions. I have loved every dog we have ever had, but especially our black and tan coonhound, Jackson. My husband and I got him as a puppy, and he grew into 85 pounds of legs and naughtiness personality–probably the best (and worst!) dog we will ever have had the pleasure of inviting into our family.
Do you have any siblings?
I have two siblings, a brother and a sister. David is 16 years older than me and Debbie is 13 years older than me. You can imagine my parents’ surprise when I came around! Since I did not grow up with them, we did not have the typical sibling relationships, but we are all fairly close now.
Who was the last person that you called or texted?
My last call was to my husband. The call started with, “YOUR SON…” and continued to detail my little one’s adventure in the water heater closet. It ended with my husband having to leave work to come home and check all the settings. He then installed a baby latch out of toddler reach, and headed back to work. I am not usually big on hashtags, but this would be an appropriate time for #momlife 😛
Who is the most famous person you have met?
I have not really met any famous people, but I can proudly say that I scared Rob Lowe once. I went to college in Montecito, CA (a beautiful town in the hills above Santa Barbara) and I frequented the Starbucks there when I was studying (or probably more accurately putting off studying). One day, Rob Lowe was in there getting coffee while I simultaneously was screeching about a boy I liked. Apparently Rob Lowe thought I was screeching about him, and he high-tailed it out of there. Our barista friend watched the whole thing play out and said it was pretty darn funny. And that is lit’trally the closest I have been to meeting a famous person.
What is something you’ve never done but would like to try?
Excellent question! I think I would like to try a trip to Europe with my kids. I think my husband might still be traumatized from our 7-hour flight to Costa Rica, so it will probably be a little later when my youngest is past the seat-kicking and melting down phase of flying. Maybe also after I have gone back to work full time–my 50% schedule is amazing, but the 50% paycheck is a little anemic. 😉
I Nominate:
Now is when I get to pick some amazing bloggers to recognize. So here are the eleven six bloggers up on deck:
- Running on Liz Time
- Joshi Daniel Photography
- Alison’s Travels
- Gather Around for God
- Eat Travel Smile
- Love Travelling
11 Questions for You:
